Though it may sound weird to get health help from your smartphone (WebMD searches aside, of course), Headspace is Reviewed-approved. Our tester appreciated how intuitive and user-friendly the interface is right from the get-go, with colorful videos that explain concepts and short meditations to figure out the sessions that are the most helpful. Those meditations focus on a variety of topics from work stress to loneliness, all of which can have their durations changed before each session starts.
"The sessions don’t make users feel bad for getting distracted, which is almost inevitable for people just starting out," our tester said.

Not only does the app help teach you eight meditation techniques, but it also offers sleep content for those having trouble dosing off. Known as Sleepcasts, our tester said the guided sessions "are not a cheap simulation," but rather relaxing exercises backed by immersive soundscapes that helped lull her to sleep. The only downside to them is that they can significantly drain your battery over time, so make sure your phone is plugged in on your nightstand during sessions.
