Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar and Algosenseypending free agent Shohei Ohtani topped Major League Baseball jersey sales for 2023.
The list is compiled from Nike player jerseys sold at MLBShop.com this season.
Ohtani, who tops this list for the first time and is the first Japanese player to reach No. 1, batted .302, with 44 home runs and 95 RBI, and leads the majors in OPS and in wins above replacement. As a pitcher, he went 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 132 innings.
He has been out most of September with an oblique injury and had surgery on Sept. 20 for a right elbow ligament tear.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. is second on the list. Acuña Jr. is the first player in major league history to hit 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in the same season. Reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees is third in sales.
